In this show we’ll be going to Washington DC and the Writer’s Conference at AWP. I’ll also be talking to publishers Two Dollar Radio.
The Wexner Center has two little nooks made for each other: the giftshop bookstore and the café. I love both. Last month I picked up The Incantations of Daniel Johnston, a graphic novel released over the summer by Two Dollar Radio, a publisher based in Clintonville which has won national acclaim from writing magazines and The New York Times. That, any writer in central Ohio will tell you, is a real local-boy-makes-good story. Run by husband and wife team Eric Obenauf and Eliza Wood-Obenauf, this small press begun in 2005 puts out high-quality, forward-thinking work which readers may see several years later reflected in some of the bigger publishing companies lists.
In this episode, I talk with Obenauf about The Incantations of Daniel Johnston a graphic novel by Ricardo Cavolo, written by Scott McClanahan.
Publishers mentioned in this show as seeking submissions: Adanna Literary Journal, A Public Space, Ohio State University Press.
